Our Atlanta Braves have a new home, SunTrust Park. It’s a ballpark unlike any I have seen as it’s so much more. Food, museums, kids zone, and concerts.
The first thing you may be surprised to learn is that SunTrust Park is actually smaller than Turner field. The goal was a more intermate setting with 41,000 seats.
While every seat is made to feel like the best seat in the house, the fans who want a more VIP feel can have one of the premium seats in the SunTrust Club, Delta SKY360 Club and the Terrace Club, which are the best seats in the building.
The iconic Chop House is back and better. At three levels, including two party decks and a new field level, which can be used for group renting. Totaling 10,000 square feet of hospitality space, the Chop House will include a full menu, a variety of beer choices and a burger restaurant concept space.
Even the Chick-Fil-A cow made the trip to his new home. I was sad to hear he doesn’t do the ‘chop’ anymore but still happy he’s here.
SunTrust Park is set up to be family friendly. From food choices, a Kids Zone and a store just for kids.
SunTrust Park will feature “Hope and Will’s Sandlot,” a large, kid-friendly area hosted by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta that will have the first-ever zip line and climbing tower inside a professional sporting venue. Visitors will be able to use the new Braves app to reserve a timeslot to access both of these attractions.
Another great addition is getting a glove to use during the game. And did I mention for free? Yup, free. Simply go to the Mizuno Glove Station and check one out. Then at the end of the game, you return the glove if you wish to keep it, you can buy it then.
What I enjoyed most was behind home plate. Here you find the Braves Monument Garden. My husband and I have been to Cooperstown many times and this is like having a mini-Braves only version right here.
The Garden is filled with facts and artifacts. From the days as the Boston Braves, down to today. Hall of Fame awards, Golden Gloves, statues, fountains and even a Time Capsule.
